The China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) proudly supported the 28th Harvard College China Forum, held from April 4 to 6, 2025, at Harvard University’s main campus. This year’s Forum focused on the evolving dynamics of U.S.-China relations, international development, and the future of global cooperation, fostering crucial dialogue on pressing global issues.
With over 150 speakers and 1,200 attendees, the Forum brought together thought leaders, founders, and scholars from various fields. Discussions covered topics such as U.S.-China collaboration, technological innovation, and cross-border business and investment strategies.
James Chau, President of CUSEF, participated as a guest speaker and delivered a virtual address during the closing ceremony.
He stated: “The modern story of US -China relations was about table tennis, was about two people who bumped into each other on a team bus at the world table tennis championships and from that went on to help shatter the silence that these two countries had endured for a couple of decades. It wasn't politicians, it wasn't diplomats, it wasn't traditional established leadership, it was two people who played sports, two people who represent culture.”
Other notable speakers included Xavier Rolet, former CEO of the London Stock Exchange; Roberta Lipson, founder of United Family Healthcare; Craig Allen, former President of the U.S.-China Business Council; and Jason Furman, former chairman of the U.S. Council of Economic Advisors, among others.
The Forum offered an exceptional opportunity to engage directly with policymakers, business executives, and visionaries working across a wide range of fields. Equally inspiring was the chance to meet with a new generation of emerging leaders who are deeply invested in the future of U.S.-China relations and committed to fostering dialogue even amid persistent geopolitical tensions. From global health to fashion, and from technological entrepreneurship to the creative arts, participants demonstrated how individuals across sectors are shaping a more connected and constructive bilateral relationship. The presence of so many innovators and creatives underscored the multidimensional nature of exchange, and the power of people-to-people interaction in reimagining collaboration between the United States and China.
Founded in 1997, the Harvard College China Forum aims to strengthen cooperation and understanding between China and the world. It continues to engage leaders from various sectors to address key challenges and foster mutual understanding.
CUSEF is honored to support initiatives like the Harvard College China Forum, promoting meaningful dialogue and collaboration that bridge cultures and address global challenges.
