The China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) recently welcomed this year’s first U.S. student delegation to China.

The delegation, comprising 27 master's students from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and representing 17 different countries, embarked on a 10-day visit starting January 1, 2025, exploring the cities of Beijing, Xi'an, and Shanghai.

In Beijing, the delegation began with an insightful meeting with Lu Kang, Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. They then visited Peking University and Tsinghua University, engaging with students and professors in dynamic discussions.

Beyond academic engagements, the students immersed themselves in China's rich cultural heritage by visiting iconic landmarks such as the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.

The journey continued in Xi'an, where they visited Xi’an International University and marveled at the Terracotta Army and the historic Xi'an City Wall.

In Shanghai, the delegation explored prominent sites including the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the New Development Bank, and the innovative EV company NIO.

The students expressed their aspirations to deepen their understanding of China's diverse facets through this immersive experience and forge lasting friendships through exchanges with Chinese youth.
