The China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) was delighted to host a nine-student delegation from The Lawrenceville School, one of the United States’ premier independent private schools, in June for a 15-day educational and cultural exchange in China. The Lawrenceville School, based in New Jersey, was founded in 1810 and boasts a distinguished 215-year legacy of academic excellence and leadership development.
The group visited three cities—Shanghai, Chengdu, and Beijing—as part of a program designed to strengthen cross-cultural ties through shared learning and dialogue.
During the tour, the students visited Soong Ching Ling International School in Shanghai, Chengdu No. 7 High School in Sichuan Province, and the High School Affiliated to Beijing Normal University. They had the opportunity to attend classes alongside local students, participate in sports activities, and engage in artistic and cultural exchanges, fostering deeper understanding and meaningful connections between youth from both countries.
The delegation also explored several of China’s historic landmarks and cultural sites, including the Forbidden City and the Great Wall in Beijing, Yu Garden and City God Temple in Shanghai, and the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and Mount Qingcheng in Chengdu. In addition, the students visited leading Chinese technology companies Tencent and Lenovo to learn about the country’s latest innovations.
