The China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) is delighted to host students from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy to China. The delegation embarked on a visit to Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai from March 9th to 16th, where they experienced the city’s arts and culture scene, held discussions with students and professors from China about the bilateral relationship, and met with various economic, foreign affairs, and education leaders.

During their time in Beijing, the delegates visited the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, two landmarks in Beijing.

The students visited the National Development and Reform Commission and Peking University, exchanging views with officials on China’s economic policies and development and having discussions with professors and students in Peking University on U.S.-China relationship.

The delegation further proceeded to the Ministry of Education. Additionally, they had discussions with young diplomats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Their final stop in Beijing was the 798 Art District, the renowned vibrant artistic and cultural hub and factory spaces for galleries and art centers.

The delegation arrived in Xi'an on March 13th by High-speed rail. They were immersed in both the ancient and modern Xi’an, from the Terracotta Army to the Hi-tech Industries Development Zone.

The delegates also had the opportunity to visit Xi'an International University, where they had the chance to experience activities such as Tai Chi and Chinese calligraphy.

Next, they ventured to Shanghai, where they cruised on the Huangpu River enjoying the vibrance of the city, and visited the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress.

The visit of the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy came just a few months after Presidents Biden and Xi met with San Francisco and mutually pledged to increase academic exchanges.

At CUSEF, we believe in the power of person-to-person exchanges in fostering mutual understanding. CUSEF is proud to organize these student exchange programs to help the people of both countries to work together and better understand each other's perspectives.
