Bond with Kuliang: the Friendship Initiative

The China-United States Exchange Foundation co-hosted a special gathering of young people in Fuzhou, a province in southeast China.

Bond with Kuliang: 2024 China-U.S. Youth Festival was opened on June 24 by representatives from government and non-governmental organizations.

On June 25, CUSEF President James Chau moderated a panel of distinguished guests for Kuliang Chat Friendship Goes On and On.

The panellists were Carla Canales, Cultural Envoy of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities in the U.S.; Cho Tak Wong, founder and chairman of Fuyao Group and Fuyao University of Science and Technology; Madame Tang Wen Sheng, advisor and former vice chairwoman of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinses; Professor Li Cheng, Director of the Centre on Contemporary China and the World at University of Hong Kong; and Roberta Lipson, CEO of New Frontier Health and Founder of United Family Healthcare.

They focused on themes of communication and dialogue within business and cultural environments through their life experiences, which all exemplify cooperation between Chinese and Americans.

In the audience, were students who have personally benefited from this exchange which CUSEF has long been advocating for. Piano prodigy and Curtis student Ruan Yang Yang publicly thanked Mr Cho for his sponsorship which allowed him to travel to the U.S. and become a professional musician. William and Sophie, students who were connected to Ms Canales through Harvard Future Diplomacy program which gave them the opportunity to travel to Fuzhou for this very festival.
