The Board of Governors and executive leadership of the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) express its deep condolences to Mrs. Nancy Kissinger and the Kissinger family on the death of Dr. Henry Kissinger.
Dr. Kissinger was an instrumental figure in the creation of modern U.S.-China relations. He first visited Beijing in 1971, charting a path that led to President Richard Nixon’s historic visit the following year, and serving as CUSEF’s Honorary Advisor since its establishment in 2008 until his passing. In this role, Dr. Kissinger worked closely with our Founder and Chairman Emeritus Mr. Tung Chee-hwa. They shared a personal friendship based on their commitment to the well-being of the American and Chinese people, and championed this alliance for the global common good.
James Chau, President of CUSEF, said: “We thank Dr. Kissinger for his public service and we pay tribute to his enduring contribution to the two countries he cared so deeply for. He played an invaluable role in enhancing trust and understanding between the U.S. and China—a legacy we strive to uphold at CUSEF today. His immense impact will not be forgotten.”
